Hello, again.

Hi, everyone!

I took some time off from book blogging because things offline got busy, and I was feeling overwhelmed and burnt out from constantly reading. The pace that I needed to be going due to all the ARC backlog was a mounting pressure and, counter-productively, the feeling of not wanting to read kicked in and wouldn’t leave. What a pickle, eh?

Re-evaluating…

So, it’s been 7 months. Wow. Has it really been that long? I noticed quite a few blogs that I’ve been subscribed to have fallen off the face of the planet, too. It seems like this isn’t for everyone. I don’t think solely book blogging is my thing, I didn’t enjoy the constant pressure of having to read so much and post here. Then again, no one’s putting a gun to my head either, right? So, I figured this time around I’m going to go at my pace. Like, truly.

I started on this blog journey with the intention of helping readers decide if a certain book(especially ones with less reviews) is for them or not(and also to get free books, hehe. Erm, that might have been a huge driving factor :D). On top of that, I had the misplaced expectation that it could become a side income. Although, let me state that I’m not on the team that claims book blogging earns you nothing. It does save you the money for buying all those books you get as ARCs, and there are indirect ways to earn by running a book blog, like providing a service that’s related to books and publishing.

What’s in store?

Initially, I wasn’t sure I wanted to continue but having all those ARCs weighed heavy on my mind. I owe the authors and publishers some publicity in return for reading their book for free, and even if I simply didn’t read them altogether I still took up one slot that could’ve gone to someone else(some have a limit to the number of ARC copies they can give out). I feel bad for 3 authors that I promised a review but have yet to give, Laurence Westwood, B. Jeanne Shibahara and Anela Deen. I am sorry, and a review or some form of publicity will be coming.

As for the blog, I might incorporate some thoughts on life I’d like to put out there now and then. And maybe resume some of my K-Drama/TV Show content(that thriller K-Drama list is still my most viewed post!). Basically, this will become a mixed blog but I’ll keep to a few topics instead of anything and everything. Mainly: Books, TV/Film and Thoughts.

Ok, I’ll just stop here. I shall understand if any of my readers no longer wish to subscribe to my blog because of the additional content in the future. No hard feelings! Thank you to each and every one of you for evenΒ reading the stuff I write ^.^

Cheerio,

Phantom Paper

  1. Ah I’m super excited that you’re back Arden!! I have missed you so much πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜ŠπŸ’ž loads of different kinds of posts sounds great! I would love to get some k-drama recommendations and I’ll read whatever you blog about 😁 write about what you love! I know arcs can be very stressful, but take your time with them. Most authors want you to read their books whenever you’re in the best head space for it, and then you can also write a cracking review. Welcome back πŸ’•β€οΈπŸ’•

    1. Eyyyy, Pauliina!! Yes, it’s been a WHILE! Thank you oh-so very much for your support! ☺ I really appreciate it. You’re right, reading their books with the right mood makes a fair review. A bit tricky when you’re a mood reader though 😜
I’m feeling better after posting my return and seeing you guys’ support!

    1. Hey, Laurenceee! Hahaha, thank you for the warm welcome πŸ˜„ I wasn’t a 100% sure I’d be returning either. Thank the Lord I’m doing fine 😊 Maybe feeling just a little stuffy for not daring to venture outside these days. But it seems the virus has landed in the UK as well, I hope it doesn’t reach your city! Been a little extra paranoid with sterilizing everything here, in any other time we’d look a bit wacko.

P.S. Forgot you were following my blog, thought I’d be saying hi over on Twitter first 😜 I didn’t forget your message, will read it soon!
