WWW Wednesdays #2 (Book Tag)

I’m back with my 2nd WWW Wednesday post! I don’t think I’m going to make this a weekly feature as things might get busy in the future, and if you haven’t noticed I’m not very consistent with my posting 😁 Making a post also takes quite a bit of time and then when will I have the opportunity to read, right?

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam from Taking on a World of Words, and the 3 questions are:

1. What are you currently reading?

Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson

Technically, I had Mistborn open while I read other books and even after finishing those I still haven’t resumed Mistborn. It’s slow-going and I’m not yet attached to the characters but I’ve already arrived at Part 2. If anyone has read and loved this book, can you tell me why, maybe you can convince me to keep reading it. I might return it to the library next month.

2. What did you recently finish reading?

This Mortal Coil by Emily Suvada

I had a sudden spurt of the reading frenzy after Defy the Stars. I went on to read 4 books and DNF 1. The last one I finished was This Mortal Coil by Emily Suvada and, man, it was something. I didn’t want to stop reading during any of the 4 books and this one was amongst them. It’s an intelligent science fiction with strong characters and some fantastic plot twists. I think part of the reason why I’m not shouting from the rooftops as much as I did with Contagion is because of its moderately fast romance and, at times, overwhelming science. Although, I still enjoyed it very much and was on the edge of my seat throughout the story.

3. What do you think you’ll read next?

Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim Book Cover

I’m planning on reading Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim for its upcoming blog tour(Caffeine Book Tours is the most FUN tour group for international bloggers that I’ve signed up for! You’ll see why later, hopefully, if everything goes well 😉)

Spin the Dawn in short:

Project Runway meets Mulan in this sweeping YA fantasy about a young girl who poses as a boy to compete for the role of imperial tailor and embarks on an impossible journey to sew three magic dresses; from the sun, the moon, and the stars.

Is that not exciting?? Sewing with magic! That, and a potential love interest who’s observant, cinched it for me. I really hope it lives up to my expectations because I have some post ideas I want to try in conjunction with it!

    1. Guess what, Lashaan 🙁 I didn’t finish it. Couldn’t find a worthwhile reason to continue. One blogger I know (Bentley from Book Bastion) commented that if my interest wasn’t captured up to where I was then I’m probably not going to enjoy the rest of it 😣 I think most epic fantasies and political intrigue don’t mesh well with my tastes. I might give Sanderson another chance though, maybe with TWK…😉

    1. RIGHT??! It was incredibly intelligent(made me feel quite stupid 😂) and Cole, ugh, I love him. I only wish the romance was slowed a bit more(but you and I know why Suvada chose it this way, huh 😉).

You see an awesome sci-fi, you send them my way, cuz your recs have been stellar so far!
