WWW Wednesdays #1 (Book Tag)

Hey everyone! I’ve not been having much luck lately getting into books(especially fantasy), so I decided I’ll post a tag instead! I know it’s technically Friday here already(and Thursday for some of you, though that’s still late for this tag) but I’ve always wanted to write a WWW Wednesday tag, so here we are 😁

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam from Taking on a World of Words, and the 3 questions are:

1. What are you currently reading?

Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson - Book cover

It looks like reading a different genre was the solution to my lack of enthusiasm for reading, and Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour did it for me. I just can’t stop reading it! And it’s an e-book, so that’s saying something for someone who prefers paper! This book is about a girl who has just lost her father and blames herself for it, she goes on a roadtrip with a guy she’s not met since childhood and they end up taking a major detour. I’m excited to see what unexpected stuff gets thrown their way, how they handle it, and the slow brewing of closeness between the two characters. So far the story’s going great! Lovable characters with understandable flaws and endearing moments. If you like the sound of that, you can read it now for FREE on Riveted Lit until the end of this month! (Honestly cannot believe how this could be real, my old self would’ve WISHED for this to have existed when I was combing the internet for free books!)

I’ve partially read Morgan Matson’s other book Save the Date and enjoyed it(I couldn’t finish it before the free read deadline). I’ll be looking out for more of her works from now on!

2. What did you recently finish reading?

Otherworld by Jason Segel and Kirsten Miller

This was a fun read incorporating virtual realities, gaming and corporations with a sinister agenda. I liked the protagonist and his humor. The story had potential but didn’t fulfill it completely, in my opinion. Otherworld is similar to Ready Player One but I enjoyed this one more as I actually got a lot of the references, which was SO NOT the case with Ernest Cline’s work. I hope to write my review of Otherworld soon.

3. What do you think you’ll read next?

Okay, so I’ve actually started on many books but left them hanging as my mood didn’t match it. So, it might be Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson or it’ll be The Last True Love Story by Brendan Kiely(also free till May 31st on Riveted Lit!) if I like the tone and vibe of the story.

So, that’s what’s going on lately in my reading-sphere. Do you have any amazing reads you’d like to recommend? Some of my usual faves are Sci-fi, Apocalyptic, YA Contemporary Romance and Mystery, so anything in those genres is up my alley!
