My rating: 5 of 5 stars
In a world where humans have transcended mortality, population control has become a problem. The solution? Ordain a group of people, hereby known as Scythes, with the task of ‘gleaning’―killing―humans within a set quota. Two ordinary teens are plucked out of their lives and tasked to become apprentices to the macabre job. What follows is life-changing, eye-opening and soul-destroying for the youths.
All the while, corruption and trouble is brewing within the Scythedom. The complacent world they live in is entering a new era, and the two teens are the catalysts. They just don’t know it yet.

I’ve found my new fav author~
Neal Shusterman didn’t write just any other dystopian story. He changed one variable―humans achieve immortality―and BAM! The whole game’s changed.
Scythe makes you question, ponder and appreciate this simple, yet complex, life of ours.
My only gripe about the series is that it’s a trilogy and not the duology I mistakenly thought it was. Like, is there a need for a 3rd book?
Quotes:
‘Would the Thunderhead grieve our passing, I wonder? And if so, would it grieve as the child who has lost a parent, or as the parent who could not save a petulant child from its own poor choices?’
‘…what was the saying? Death makes the whole world kin. Rowan wondered if a world without death would then make everyone strangers.’
‘There was no lane line, no net, nothing to keep them apart but the wall of her will. But that wall kept losing bricks.’

Thank you so much! Scythe was quite unique! If you don’t mind reading online, RivetedLit.com has a few books for free each month or so(it’s where I read Shusterman’s book!)
This might be the 1st time I’m hearing of BookOutlet, haha.

We share a lot in common! Except classics(not that I don’t like them, I enjoyed quite a few classic romances before). I still love reading YA though, I’m hoping I don’t stop liking it even as I age 😁
