Brewing tea…
May is going to be a packed month for me! My trigger-happy finger requested so many books without paying attention to the May publishing dates ๐
I’ve now scheduled them accordingly and these are the 3 books I’m reading this week:
The Bearer’s Burden
by Chad Queen
Archer Coe
by Jamie S. Rich and Dan Christensen
Buying Time
by E. M. Brown
Last week, I finished Starlings by Jo Walton. It’s a short-story and poem collection, you can check out my review here.
Lately, I’ve been feeling boxed in, helpless and frustrated more often. It’s largely owing to my current situation, which I won’t divulge even though I want to because I don’t know if anyone I know in real life will stumble upon this blog. I don’t have chronic depression but sometimes you can get something close to depression because of outside factors. I also don’t want to bandy the word depression around so carelessly, so I guess I’m very down in the dumps I should say. I should take my own advice that ‘Everything will be ok’. You have to go on because no one else is going to fight for your cause as they’re all busy battling their own. And maybe, one day, I hope to bring good news ๐
Add some milk…
This Tuesday I want to talk about ARCs and TBR lists. I joined NetGalley in late-March(I think), filled out my profile and requested a bunch of books I was interested in. I’ve seen advices online that you should avoid reviewing or requesting books you’re not interested in, which made me wonder, why would anyone do that? Request books they don’t like the sound of, that is.
The other thing that I’m curious about is: when do you usually read your ARCs? How long before or after their publishing date? Or do you read and review whenever you like?
A dash of sugar…
Here are some casual shots I took this week ๐
Wonderful pics!! Youโve got interesting looking books thereโฆ curious to hear your thoughts on those books!
Thanks for commenting on my review post on Behind Closed Doors an hour ago! In hindsight, I thought my voice was a bit too controversial so I re-wrote it to make it less controversial yet honest to my feelings at the same time lol

Keep your chin up everyone is goes through a bad patch and it is easier to talk about it. As if you keep it to yourself you’re just going to stew on it and it might make it worse.

As a tea addict (seriously I canโt cope without a cup of tea in the morning), I love the idea of this post.
I donโt understand why anyone would pick to review a book they donโt like the sounds of either. Just doesnโt make sense.

Thank you, Jo!! And ikr? Would like to know why from someone who did do that๐

So sorry you’re going through a bit of a rough patch right now. Hopefully your month improves and its smooth sailing for you soon. As far as ARCs from Netgalley, I try to read them the month the book publishes. I also post my review usually within 2 weeks prior or up to publication date.

Aww, I hope things get better for you soon! I try to post my ARC reviews around their publication date so I organize everything in a calendar and read in that order. Sometimes a book will come around that makes me push everything else to the back burner but the calendar usually keeps me pretty organized.

I used to have a sticky note on my computer saying โEverything will be okโ and the honest truth is that no matter how bad things get you just keep going on. Books help ๐

it’s not requesting books I don’t like .. more like trying to find new books and you might just not like it.. It’s not a guarantee! I try to finish my ARCs as early as possible.

Ohhh, now THAT makes more sense. By ‘as early as possible’ do you mean as soon as you get approved for it and have the time or…?

I hope you feel better soon! I do get super excited when a mail from NetGalley pops up! But Iโve been trying to avoid requesting books from there because Iโve more than 20 NetGalley books still waiting for review ๐คฆโโ๏ธ

Lolllll, I have 22 books to finish๐ Gotta get that ration up though, so I’m going to try and not request any more, easier said than done๐

Definitely easier said than done! Everytime I go there to post a review, I end up requesting 5 more books! ๐คฆโโ๏ธ

Omg, yessss! For me, whenever I go to search a particular book I notice all the newly added ones and their covers just all but pull me to click on them๐

Thank you, Allie๐! It passed for the time being and that’s a testament to the saying ‘This, too, shall pass’, eh?
I’ve started scheduling this month, hopefully I get most of them done, if not all๐ And I agree, it’s a good thing I don’t have a strict posting day(usually).

I am currently reading one book that comes out on the 15th. My NetGalley list is out of control. I have so many that have been sitting on my Kindle for ages and I just havenโt gotten around to reading them. So hopefully 2018 will make a dent in that list ๐

xD Oh no! I’m scared to even ask how many๐ I have 21(previously 22) left to go, hopefully we both manage to clear at least half! I want to raise my ratio ๐
