Dear Fabian,
It seems like, all of a sudden, everyone is getting sick somehow or the other. I did mention my Grandpa getting bladder cancer last year in one of my earlier posts, now it looks like Aunt Mary has been diagnosed with breast cancer! And then this week, I hear that both David Bowie and Alan Rickman(still can’t believe Snape is gone. No more comforting myself with the fact that the actor is still alive when I watch Deathly Hallows 😭) have passed away due to cancer. My Grandaunt Leanne also contracted a lung infection some time ago. And since two days ago, my Mom got down with a cold which has now spread to my sister, Yasmin. I, too, am beginning to feel the onset of a sore throat.
Unbelievable.
Now, on to less somber stuff. I’ve decided to fill my free-time with learning some new courses. Seeing as I want to improve my Chinese skills I’ve found a course called ‘Chinese Characters for Beginners‘ on Coursera.org. Recently the idea of learning how to make a mobile app entered my mind as well. So I found a free course for that, too. It’s called ‘CODAPPS: Coding Mobile Apps for Entrepreneurs‘, also on Coursera. Ofcourse, there are countless other app making courses out there, so if you think there’s a better one, let me know in the comments section!
I’ve also been working on a side ‘project’ which has been keeping me busy for the past few days. I can’t tell you what it is as I fear my identity might be discovered in doing so.

On the sickness/death topic: why are people surprised at news of sickness and death? While it’s always been thus, for a short time the richer minority was able to protect itself from the world’s poor, sick, dying and dead. Now that minority is aging, hence dying. Now there’s instant social media bringing it home and the news ferrets are eager to spread their meaningless tripe. Now there is more population and that equals closer contact and more contagion. Now there is more pollution, bad food, bad air, bad water, all on the increase in proportion to increased population. The pressure in the natural environment is near to blowing up the balloon, and these problems are nature’s desperate attempts to prevent just that. So, is it surprising? Or only surprising to those who once upon a time could immunize themselves from these problems through distance, better and healthier conditions, access to medical care and exclusive lifestyles not available to the vast majority of earth’s denizens, in fact deliberately denied to that vast majority? We’re simply facing the legacy of empire.

While what you said may be true in certain aspects, like systemoad has said, the news of the passing of someone you knew is always a shock. And in this case, I was emphasizing the seemingly sudden rise of people contracting or dying of cancer. Maybe it’s just that two of my relatives have gotten it that I’m now noticing each and every news/article on the topic of ‘cancer’. 😃

Yes, I do think that it’s shocking when you hear that some well-known person has died or when ANYONE you know has passed away. I don’t think it has anything to do with aristocracy, class priveleges or such like. Atleast not in this case.
It is pretty sad to hear about it. Very much sad. I hated him yet enjoyed his character & acting. Somehow, I find Snape’s severity kind of funny. Reading all these talk of Alan’s great personality just makes it even harder to digest his passing. That prank was hilarious eventhough it was such common trick. They did well! Oh man, I bet being on the set of HP was a blast!
Now I’ve got a full-fledged cold with cough and all. ←_← But I shall trudge on, come rain or shine! 😁

I suppose neither of you has read the last book of Harry Potter. Snape is the good guy. Yes he had a personal animosity towards James, but that does not mean he’s a bad guy. He protected Harry. RIP Alan.
About your post, I wonder is this fictional or have you just come up with names for real family members?

Actually, I have read all seven books and―*spoiler alert*―I know that Snape was the good guy. That’s why it makes it all the more sad, eventhough it’s the actor who died. Alan did a spectacular job of portraying Snape! I can’t imagine anyone else playing as him. I read that Alan was a pretty awesome person.
On the topic of my journal posts, they are real. Are the names so obviously made up? Hmm…I was choosing the names best fit to their personalities. I forgot to add that these were made up names 😁.

@Amra – How could Snape be the good guy? As for reading the books, I’ve been in queue to buy these off the shelves, which probably makes me one of the very firsts to read it.
A few examples.
– Snape the rat, told Voldemort about the unborn child who’d destroy him one day. (this basically lead to everything else)
– He did call Lilly a Mudblood
– He revealed Lupin’s secret to all of the Slytherins
– Tortured his students and ridiculed them
– Was always after the teachers who taught Defense Against the Dark Arts
– Pretty much hated Harry all his life

DISAGREED! He called Lily mudblood when he was small. He did certain things to win Voldermorts favour. He needed to win his trust so that Voldermort would be killed one day. Torturing students is a teacher trait. He had to show that he is against harry.
Though he did it all for Lily’s sake, he is the one to leave the griffindor sword in the forest etc to protect Harry.

I think Snape wasn’t completely a good or bad guy. He had good intentions yet, at the same time, wasn’t a very pleasant guy. J.K. Rowling herself said a similar thing herself here: http://www.businessinsider.com/is-snape-is-a-harry-potter-hero-jk-rowling-weighs-in-2015-11
